From the amount of posts I keep forgetting to schedule and then backdate them to the date when they should have been posted, you might guess I have a problem with being consistent with my posting. I try my best to write every day of October, and I usually manage that just fine, I just forget to post. Oh well.
Fortunately there are other areas in life where being consistent goes better–and these are areas where being consistent matters a lot more.
This past summer was nothing short of a miracle. Coming back to the Church was not easy, and there are ongoing challenges, but there have been some great moments along the way. Getting back into the habit of scripture study and prayer helped a lot. The reminder from my dear friends was always the same: the key is in being consistent.
There have been a few things that have helped me with that were extremely simple. Getting pocket-size scriptures was one of them. Reading them on the tram is the easiest thing ever, and they don’t require batteries. I ride the tram twice a day Monday to Friday, so even if life gets super hectic, I have that time for the scriptures. I still have days, however, when I fail at keeping consistent in reading. I might fall asleep a few verses in, while on other nights I can read through the whole book of Alma.
In addition to praying in the morning and evening, I often find myself praying while I crochet. I was making the Salt Lake Temple pattern, and I found myself praying for all the people I met there. It was just a great reminder to pray. I have also decided to focus more on journaling, and combine that with scripture study, and studying the words of living prophets.
